RTE Galway – Our Beaver Barriers appear in Storm Brendan feature

Our Beaver Barriers appeared once again in an RTE segment at Galway’s Spanish Arch. During the Storm Brendan feature on Sunday 12th January 2020, our barriers were shown being checked by council workers in preparation efforts before the storm hits the coast on Monday, bringing high tides and strong winds to the area.

Galway City Council have increased the barrier length to 120m since the original 70m installation last October, and it now runs both sides of the arch. The S130 model barrier will protect the buildings across the road from flood waters of up to 1.30m high, and the weight of the water filling the barrier will hold it in place without requiring any additional equipment.
