Galway City Flood Barrier Installation

Galway City Flood Barrier Installation

Galway City Council recently installed a Beaver flood barrier along the River Corrib at the Spanish Arch in preparation for Storm Lorenzo. The 70m length S130 barrier was erected by our team alongside Council workers and can withstand flood waters up to 1.30m in height. The Council plans to keep a flood barrier in this location throughout Autumn and Winter, to combat any future storms and possible flooding.

This clip from the 1pm News Update on 3rd October 2019 features RTE presenter Teresa Mannion standing in front of the barrier. Information about this product and other flood protection systems can be found here.
